Sex and the City star joins ITV drama

'Sex and the City' star Cynthia Nixon has joined the cast of the ITV follow-up to the Quentin Crisp drama 'The Naked Civil Servant'.

The new show, 'An Englishman in New York', will feature film Nixon acting performance creative person and dramatist Penny Arcade.

John Hurt will again play Crisp in the drama, which is being filmed in New York and picks up where the 1970s classic 'The Naked Civil Servant' ended.

Arcade formed a close bond with Crisp in the latter years of his life, helping him to bring forth 'The Last Will and Testament of Quentin Crisp'.

Executive producer James Burstall said: "Choosing to frivol away the photographic film in New York was a high-risk decision as the drama industry whole kit and caboodle very other than in the US from the UK.

"But the huge amount of strategic planning and the leap of faith ar delivering a first rate calibre of cast."

For a farseeing time the abrasive and dark electro-industrial unit YelworC felled seam into the "more a legend than a dance orchestra" category. Many Internet message boards praised them, quite a little of industrial bands claimed them as an influence, just you couldn't find an album by them to economise your life history. It wasn't until file-sharing programs became pop that nearly fans got to hear the dance orchestra, and before long YelworC MP3s were being swapped feverishly amongst industrial fans. Germans Peter Devlin and Dominik van Reich formed YelworC (Crowley backwards, as in Aleister) in 1988. They had released eight demo tapes by the sentence they signed to the German label Celtic Circle in 1991. They put out three albums -- 1992's Brainstorming, 1993's Blood in Face, and 1995's Collection, 1988-1994 ahead splitting up. Devlin kept the YelworC name, and Reich carried on as amgoD (Dogma backwards), patch the original Yelworc recordings went out of print. Over the adjacent ten years, fans that really got to hear their original releases panax quinquefolius the praises of the aggressive beatniks and dark lyrics, and compared them to an even more subway Skinny Puppy. Fans were appalled when their favourite little private proclaimed they were ready to devolve. In early 2004 Metropolis records released the first record in a planned trilogy, the construct record album Sacred Trinity.

New Coldplay Album to Be Released by Headless Record Company

Fox's Roger Friedman is reporting that nerd-employing music conglomerate EMI has just axed the heads of Capitol and Virgin Records (president Lee Trink and CEO Jason Flom, respectively) and neither will be replaced because Guy Hands and his partners at Terra Firma, the private-equity company that bought EMI last year, "don't believe in label presidents."

This comes shortly before next week's release of the shareholder-anticipated Coldplay album Viva La Vida, so Friedman is convinced that it's completely crazy (and industry analyst Perez Hilton agrees). But we're not yet discounting the possibility that it just might be crazy enough to work. What part of the promotional strategy for the new Coldplay album hasn't already been in place for months (1. Send it to stores. 2. Beg Chris Martin to write more songs like "Yellow" for his next album)? And, moving forward, can't geeky EMI president (and former Googler!) Doug Merrill just build robots to dictate company policy? We see no reason why not.

Tommy Lee to star in animated project

Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee is set to star in an animated project, providing the voice for the main character.

??The Life and Times of Jimmy Jaxx?? is an animated half hour which is loosely based on Lee??s own life- a rocker trying to balance life on the rod with his home life. In the short, the character??s tattoos come to life and lead him astray.

"I've always loved the animated world," Lee told Variety. "How fun and kooky is this gonna be, to combine some real-life experiences with some seriously over-the-top humor."

Lee is also listed as a producer on ??Jaxx?? and gave the writers much material to use in the piece, including a story about when he filled the bathtub up with Cherry Icees and accidentally dyed his children red.

Lee has two sons with ex-wife Pamela Anderson.

In 1981, at 19, Fernanda Abreu had an amateur band with Leo Jaime (Nota Vermelha) and was doing contemporary saltation in the groups Coringa and Fonte. Later in that year, she coupled Blitz, a isthmus of historical grandness for Brazilian rock of the '80s. In that period she participated in albums by Plebe Rude (O Concreto Já Rachou, 1985) and Ricardo Barreto, at one time of Blitz (Prisioneiros do Ar, 1986). After the adjournment of the band in 1986, Abreu gradually structured her solo career, preparing material, doing shows, and recording with Fausto Fawcett, Laufer, and Serginho Mekler. In 1989, having already written some originals, she met Herbert Vianna (from Paralamas do Sucesso). Encouraged by him, Abreu formed a funk/disco band with Fábio Fonseca (former Nota Vermelha), Fernando Vidal (guitar), Aurélio Dias (freshwater bass), and Bodão (drums). Her first solo album, SLA Radical Dance Disco Club (1990), was produced by Herbert Vianna and Fábio Fonseca and had a strike with "A Noite" (Abreu/Luís Stein/Laufer). Her second gear album, SLA2/Be Sample (1992), was one of the earliest Brazilian pop records to extensively employ the taste-tester, and had success with "Rio de Janeiro 40 Graus" (Abreu/Fausto Fawcett/Laufer). Since then, considered the number 1 noblewoman of the Brazilian disco, Abreu became the most pop distaff funk vocalist with Da Lata, which had "Veneno da Lata" (Abreu/Will Mowat), "Garota Sangue Bom" (Abreu/ Fawcett), and "Brazil É o País do Suíngue" ( Vianna).

Weinstein to produce "Alchemist" film adaptation

CANNES, France (Reuters) - The Weinstein Company will produce Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist" in a big-budget adaptation directed by Hollywood star Laurence Fishburne, Harvey Weinstein announced in Cannes on Sunday.

He said the movie would cost "60 million dollars-plus" to make and would start shooting in late spring or early summer.

The movie mogul will be hoping to build on his success with other literary adaptations including "The English Patient" and "The Talented Mr. Ripley".

"It's a book that I've been truly inspired by," Weinstein told reporters at the Cannes film festival.

"I will be personally producing. I rarely produce movies, as you know. We cause movies to be produced."

He said that "The Alchemist", first published 20 years ago, combined elements that should make it appeal to a broad audience -- spirituality, a journey, youth, love and action.

Coelho's novel, which has sold an estimated 30 million copies worldwide, tells the story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who travels to Africa in search of his dream and meets the alchemist along the way.
